Renault factory in Morocco stirs controversy in France | glObserver Global Economics


The grand opening of Renault factory in Morocco on Thursday stirs controversy in France. The new facility was opened in Tangiers and is aimed at producing new “low cost”models directed to Europe and Africa. With the approaching presidential elections, the issues was addressed by a lot of politicians.

He noted that it was impossible to produce low-cost cars in Western Europe. Renault boss explained that “the production from this plant is called low cost so we had to go to nations where there is abundant skilled labor, and as well with extremely competitive costs.” He said, however, that the medium-term strategic plan for Renault is to increase annual production in France.
