Vietnam reports surge in dengue fever cases in first 9 months| glObserver Global Economics


Vietnam reported some 32, 900 dengue fever patients in the initial nine months of this year, inclunding 18 fatalities, compared with the respective figures of 18,800 and 15 in the same period last year, the country’s General Statistics Office said Tuesday.

Between January and September, the country as well reported over 29,000 infection cases of hand-foot-mouth disease inclunding 4 fatalities; 720 cases of viral encephalitis, inclunding 21 fatalities; and 289 cases of typhoid.

Vietnam currently has 228,500 HIV carriers, of whom 78,700 have become AIDS patients, the office said,
